Scissor Sisters Live In Brisbane (Belated Posting from Another Location)

FRESH in (ok maybe not so fresh) from the scissor sisters gig....my feet are KILLING me... omg they hurt SO bad. i knew they would cuz i walked all the way through brisbane on thursday (to see how long it would take me to get there, yadda yadda yadda) and now i wish i hadnt lol..cuz my feet are screaming in soreness.

ANYway. sore feet aside. what an AWESOME show. the people there (of which there were THOUSANDS) were a shitload more friendly than at the NIN gig I went to in '05 (not surprised, completely different fan-base). lots of people dressed up...from glitter sticks to cardboard scissors covered in foil....to a guy wearing a pair of shorts and a big silver pair of scissors painted on his chest.... to 2 guys who i spoke to who were in drag and looking goddamn FABULOUS too. and i think i spotted one guy who had a massive pink mohawk....it might have just been a novelty hat for all i know...but it looked awesome.

let's talk support band... sneaky sound system....a group from sydney who are pretty dancey and actually not bad. DJ Sammy played a set before the sneaky ppl went on, and before scissor sisters came on. He played a lot of stuff that I didn't know ..apart from remixes of: rock your body by justin timberlake, (you make me feel) mighty real by sylvester and 2 sogns before scissor sisters came on he played sweet child o' mine by guns n roses...and i tell you....if there was anyone who was NOT singing along at the top of their lungs, it's because they didn't know the lyrics, cuz I swear everyone was singing along to it, and even Ana Matronic commented on it during the show.

anyway....lights dim..an instrumental of "intermission" is played..and the band comes on. everybody cheers like maniacs and claps their hands until they hurt. (hehe) (incidentally "intermission" is very different without the lyrics...sounds very quirky.) .... and the first song is....

she's my man: i love this song...besides being catchy, if you actually listen to the lyrics, it's about the new orleans legend of annie christmas, who was a cross-dressing river boat pirate/murderer.

jake was wearing white pants with i couldn't tell what on them...paint splotches maybe... a yellow shirt and a white jacket...and a visor hat (ha! i'm so wearing mine forever now)... Ana was wearing a blue dress...low cut of course...but she can get away with it lol..paddy (the drummer) was wearing some shirt with sequins all over it (which is kinda funny cuz he's the only guy in the group who isn't gay) ... i couldn't tell what babydaddy was wearing and del was wearing a black shirt with those wierd pants he wears that come halfway up his chest lol

songs played in no particular order and frosty's commentary:

i can't decide: this is another of my favourite songs off the new ta-dah cd... so..bouncy lol.. and generally a fun song which talks about burying someone alive lol

lights: this has some quirky lines in it too.. and this is another song i really like off the new album

laura: jake made a comment about laura bush which went "personally i think she's a fucking c*nt"...which made me laugh so hard...i jumped up and then my leg cramped up and i fell flat on my ass and was trying to UN-cramp my leg (hard to do in the middle of a crowd, let me tell you), with about 10 people standing around me asking me if i was ok...lol omg that was so embarassing..lol but eventually i got the cramp outta my leg and then got up off the ground.

the skins: i love this song to bits....it's got an awesome bassline and it's catchy as hell. at this point jake stripped off his jacket and by the end of the song his shirt was half off too....lol

kiss you off: all about telling your lover where to go..lol and a really cool song too....sounds very much like blondie.... but still...it's one of my favourites

tits on the radio: love this song for it's bassline and other reasons (hey, how many songs mention the word TITS...lol) ....but no...its all about new york being "cleaned up" of all the seedy places to go and such...and the point of the song is...do what you like, but you can't see tits on the radio lol

Take your mama: ahh.... the first song that got me addicted to scissor sisters in the first place. sounds a lot like elton john, to me. at this point i actually left my spot and went to get some water because i was thirsty and my feet were killing me, so i needed a quick sit down.

paul mccartney: actually THIS song was when i went to get water... i know i moved when they played take your mama but i think that was to get some food.. i had a satay special from the malaysian tent which was pretty damn good, actually.. for take away kiosk food.

i didn't go back to the front of the stage after that, too hard to get in there.

land of a thousand words: this song i can take or leave, to REALLY be honest about it. i don't mind it, but it's not one of my favourites.

transistor: this song is actually on the bonus CD to Ta-Dah... i've never listened to it lol....but it sounded awesome and trippy.

music is the victim: this song rocks out totally and i love it everytime i hear it. it was really cool to be almost at the back of the crowd and see everyone in the crowd with their hands in the air, wavin em like the just didn't care.

comfortably numb: i was sitting down when this started and immediately jumped up to move closer when it started. i was skeptical when i first heard the scissor sisters cover of comfrtably numb, but after listening to it a couple of times, it REALLY grew on me. it's in no way better than the original by floyd, however for a reworking of it, it's awesome.

i don't feel like dancing: this song is so cool...and everyone near me was singing along with it..including me :P

filthy/gorgeous: another favourite of mine..and the crowd, too. this was during the encore, so jake and ana had changed outfits...jake was wearing a 2 piece shirt and shorts that were all sequiny (he was wearing only the shorts by the end of the show lol) and Ana was wearing a different dress. Ana didn't lick Jake's stomach.. but he had his pants half off his ass lol and i think she smacked his ass a bit...

and i merchandised myself silly at this concert....i got badges and pins and earrings and a tour programme too. woohoo! i really enjoyed the show, apart from the falling over and the sore feet..AND i got to keep the ticket, too....woohoo more souvenirs..lol and the support band DIDNT suck... the last concert i went to (nine inch nails) the support band were sooooo crap... the lead singer had a cold and still insisted on screaming his lungs out...)

songs they DIDNT play which i wish they had: it can't come quickly enough, return to oz ...only cuz i've grown attached to them and they are up there with my favourite SS songs...

song that they didn't that i'm glad they didn't play: mary.. lol i don't really like this song that much... and if they had played it, it would have been my drink-getting cue.

this has been a frostilicus ramble.....goodnight :P
