Home Again...

(Frostilicus apologises for the lack of formatting in this post, I'm tired and can't be bothered at this present time.)

i'm back folks, got back thursday night.

the flight to brisbane was ok... i am, however NOT impressed with Queensland Rail, though. while still in perth, i checked that i would be able to take the train from the domestic airport in brisbane, to my suburb, and everything checked out ok. the train would be running at the time i was due to be there, and the domestic airport station itself was open until 9pm, no dramas.

well. my flight was delayed an hour. this meant i got into brisbane just after 8, instead of just after 7. in the back of my mind was "never mind, the airport station is open until 9." i got off the plane, got my luggage...and then (after spotting Katie from big brother), I left the terminal to get to the train station.

this is where i found out that the airtrain does NOT run after 7:30pm. the escalators were not running, and neither was the lift. i asked a couple of passengers, who said they heard it wasn't running, and i was stopped by a couple who were probably around my age, the chick looked like she'd been crying, and she asked me if i was looking for the entry to the airport station. i said i was, and she said.. the airtrain isn't running, and we've got to get to IPSWICH... which is about the distance i had to go, plus half again. she said she'd been crying because they had no other way of getting home.

i found a parking attendant, and asked if the airtrain was running (just for confirmation), and she said that no, the airtrain doesn't run after 730pm. at which point i just looked extremely pissed off and said "well, nobody told me THAT!"

having no desire to spend the night at the airport, i hailed the first cab and asked him how much it would cost me to get to where i was going.. and he said... how much have you got? ... i told him i had $60, and that is all i've got, and he said...yeah it will probably be about that much. so we set off, and meanwhile i'm answering txt msgs and just freaking out because i've been sitting down for what seems like the entire day and my stress level is just a bit more than i can take. so cabbie makes small talk while going through the tolls, asking me how my trip was and such.

about 20 minutes later, the meter is nearing $50 and we are only about halfway there.. so cabbie pulls over and tells me.."ok, this fare is going to end up costing you more than $60, so what i'll do is, i'll turn the meter off here, and we'll call the fare even at $60" at which point i breathe a sigh of relief, cuz i sure as shit didn't have any more than $65 on me at best.

so we finally get to my house.. and i pay him the $60 and i even gave him an extra $2.50 for his trouble. i thank him profusely for being so nice about the whole thing. i lug my luggage upstairs (it was fuckin heavy), and my elder housemate greets me at the door and says "hello stranger!" lol... and i whinge to her about the whole train/cab ordeal..and then go to turn on my pc, only to realise that i'd locked it before i left (it has a triple plate aluminium door on the front of it that covers the buttons), and damn if i'd forgotten where i'd put the key to it! so after trying to pick the lock (no luck) and trying to remember where i'd put the bloody keys (no luck either), i just plugged the laptop in and used that for the night and figured i would look for the key in the morning. (there's no overhead light in my room so fuck looking for it in the dark)

i decided to call mum and let her know i'd made it, and whinged to her about the whole cab/train thing, and she said that was ridiculous, and she said she would reimburse me the $60, it would just take a couple of days, which was very nice of her. ....my mum loves me hehe

so yeah ....home now. and of course once i'd got home i thought of other ways that i could have maybe avoided that $60 fare, but what can i say..in the moment when you're stressed like that... u just don't think.

anyway. FUCK QUEENSLAND RAIL AND IT'S GAY-ASS "WE DON'T TRAVEL AFTER 7:30PM" AIRTRAIN SERVICE!
